On July 4th, 1776 our founding Fathers declared a revolution in pursuit of Justice and Liberty. The Continental Congress, made up of fifty-six brave men, representing the 13 colonies, met to adopt the Declaration of Independence. By signing their names, these patriots risked their lives, and birthed The United States of America, formally separating from Great Britain. Forever changing the course of world history.
These Patriots desired to build a nation that would provide opportunity for its citizens and prosperity for all those who wished to pursue it. In the two hundred and forty-nine years since the birth of our nation, our citizens have built railroads, highways and rocket ships. We have fought wars to advance freedom and have provided humanitarian aid to every corner of the globe.
Today, it can feel like opportunity has withered and prosperity is out of reach. We must remember that since our founding, our country has faced grave adversity many times. The spirit of America, exercised through “We the People,” has always prevailed and we will again.
This Fourth of July, celebrate the legacy of our great nation. We were founded on the divine truth that “…all men are created equal.” An ideal that has sparked the spread of freedom around the world. Consider all the human innovation that has been created in our country, from the model T-Ford to the internet. Then, feel the gratitude that you were lucky enough to be born in The United States of America.
